Complete Karaoke Systems Finding Your Best Option

I love vinyl. I love vinyl more than I love apple pie a la mode. More than sunsets on the beach. Even more than a lot of people I know. I have been an all-vinyl DJ for 8 years now, and have been told several times that I'd "have to" go to digital. Have to? Go to digital? That's like telling Paula Deen she'd have to stop using butter. It's against my religion.

Finding the Best Cheap Acoustic Guitars

In no way form or fashion can words describe how I feel about the South. So when me and a friend of mine from New York was having a heated discussion in South Beach about the five best southern rap songs of all time. I really started to think about this subject very deeply. So after giving it some deep thought and winning the argument with my friend, here's what I came up with...

Christina Aguilera Joins Twitter

Last night David and I made our way to the Hollywood Palladium to see the superstar DJ Girl Talk live in concert. I got turned on to Girl Talk last year when he released his album All Day free online and I was very curious to see what his live show would be like. Basically, it’s like a big party where all of your fave songs get played and mashed together. I wouldn’t say it was the best concert I’ve ever been to but it deffo was a fun time.

Essentially, the sold out audience at the Palladium paid to hear a DJ play songs all night long … which doesn’t sound all that interesting but the songs that were played and the way they were mashed up with other songs was, at the very least, inventive and fun. I was most impressed by the mash-up of Kelly Clarkson‘s Since U Been Gone on top of the throbbing guitar riff from the Nine Inch Nails song Wish. Every single person was dancing last night … and that is the sign of a great show. David is not a fan of concerts but he had fun so … yeah, I’m glad we went to the show.

Tonight is a night off for me, as I have concerts every other night all week long. I’m planning on seeing Duran Duran tomorrow night then Oh Land & OMD on Friday night and then Good Charlotte on Saturday night. We may see a movie tonight but … we may also just stay in to recuperate. Happy Tuesday!!

Rockabilly Is Aging Well

Mahalo ukuleles are cheap yet playable and beautiful ukes that are mostly made in China. They may not be the greatest ukulele in the world but they are constructed from decent materials and can produce acceptable tune. For someone who wants to get started to play and strum some music with a uke but does not want to spend hundreds of dollars, this is definitely a great choice.

Musicians Have Learned How To Indulge

As a singer doing small gigs, performing Hindi Film songs from the 1950s to the 1970s, I was always struck by the warmth of the music that we seemed to have in those days. I strive to put that feeling, that warmth, in my performances despite working with good equipment. The digital, computerized age, has made recording crystal clear, and the effects are astounding. But the warm, fuzzy feeling has gone for good.

Rhythm and Blues Music Primed the Pump For the Rockabilly Revolution

I guess it's probably been this way since music was first invented. The older generation doesn't understand the younger generation's music. I laugh at myself these days when I hear myself saying to my kids, "Why don't you turn that crap off and listen to some real music?" My parents said it to me and their parents said it to them. This is one respect in which rockabilly was similar to many musical genres before it. The difference was that rockabilly ignited that emotion in the parents and high-society types in a much stronger way than other types of music had before or have since.

The Structures of a Hip Hop Beat

You can find the term "exclusive beats" everywhere around the music industry, especially when it comes to hip hop music. But what does it mean? Well, professional producers sell their beats to earn money. They always try to bring their music to a new level and also give their beats an individual touch. Uniqueness is the key to their success. That is what makes a beats exclusive. But that's not all!

Yesterday we heard a rumor that Britney Spears would be co-headlining her upcoming Summer tour with another big name act and today we learn not only that the rumor is very likely true but we also learn that her co-headliner will very likely be Enrique Iglesias. Ricky Martin kicked off his new Musica+Alma+Sexo World Tour in his homeland of Puerto Rico last night and he unveiled his new leather daddy look on stage. I’m thinkin’ Ricky‘s outfit is meant to look like a badass motorcyle outfit but, IMHO, it ended up looking more silly than badass. Check out the photos below and see for yourselves.

Oh, Ricky. This outfit looks like he got it at a Backstreet Boy garage sale. Yeah, I’m not really feelin’ it. Ricky has 3 more nights in Puerto Rico before he brings his tour to the mainland for a tour of the rest of the US before he takes the show international. David is really wanting to see Ricky in concert when he comes here to LA … so … I might be seeing this outfit up close and personal. Um … can’t wait.

Drew Barrymore and her new boyfriend Will Kopelman have been flaunting their romance all over SoCal in the past week or so. From restaurants, to stores, to sporting events, Drew and Will have been seen makin’ out all over town. Last night, the couple took their lurvefest show courtside at the Staples Center where they rooted for the LA Lakers in between make-out sessions.

Geeze Louise, get a room you two! It is quite clear that these two are really LOVING the honeymoon phase of their new relationship. While I really miss seeing Drew with Justin Long, I am happy to see her lookin’ so enamored of a new dude. Let’s hope this new love is one that can stand the test of time and won’t burn out sooner rather than later.

Karaoke Downloads Are Increasing Know Why

One of the more curious aspects of rockabilly is that often times the themes of rockabilly songs tended to be rather silly. In fact, you could almost say that there was an art to taking a goofy theme that might otherwise condemn a song to the category of "novelty song" and making a legitimate rocker out of it. It was almost as if the songwriter was daring the listener to dismiss the song as silly. But the music was so energetic and sincere that these songs could not be shrugged off quite so easily. Here are a few goofy examples that illustrate what I mean.

Late yesterday, after an entire INTERNETLESS day, I blogged about my Ikea day yesterday … which was only part of how I spent my day. As I’m sure you can all imagine, David and I are still buried under piles of boxes and stuff strewn all around the house. So … our unpacking continues.

I managed to get my home office in order so, thankfully, this room has been my refuge from the storm. The rest of the house is a disaster. But … one thing at a time. Tonight, I’m getting out of the house and heading downtown to see Taylor Swift in concert at the Staples Center. Yeah, I know … Taylor Swift? I’ve heard some great things about her show so I decided to check her out. Other than that, yeah, unpacking.

What You Always Wanted To Know About Brass Instruments How To Find The Best Trumpet For Students

Thirty years ago today, a monumental musical event occurred. At 12:01 AM on August 1, 1981 a new station came on the air, called MTV. The first images broadcast on the new music television station were the launch of Apollo 11. The first video was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles and the rest as they say was "History". Music lovers, especially the young high school age and college age, were now going to be able to see their favorite musicians and bands more often than the usual Grammy awards broadcast or special guest appearance on a late night show, American Bandstand or Soul Train.

Overlooked Questions When Hiring A Kids Magician

Fancy dress has been practised for over hundreds of years, tracing it's origins as far back as Roman times but it is generally accepted that the present day of notion of a fancy dress party has evolved from the Italian Masquerade balls of the 15th century. These were truly grand and opulent occasions and were almost exclusively attended by the aristocracy and wealthy. These festivities were for the upper classes, and were closely associated with the traditional Venetian Carnival and the use of masks over the face to be unrecognisable.

Celebrity Birthdays Today: Madonna, Rumer Willis, Kathie Lee Frank Gifford and More!

Several celebrities celebrating their birthdays today — a Material Girl, an ‘Office’ man, a ‘Dixie’ chick, an ‘Ordinary’ kind of guy plus many more!! See who’s partaking in some cake today… Rumer Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, turns 23 years old today. What’s the latest surrounding the oldest of the Moore/Willis offspring? She is rumored to be dating teen heartthrob Zac Efron, but we have yet to see pics of the two together. InTouch Weekly recently claimed that Efron even met Demi. Will Zac and Rumer be celebrating her birthday together? Steve Carell, aka Michael Scott from “The Office” is 49 years old today. His latest flick, “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”, which he stars and produced, has overall received nice reviews and let me tell you, the movie is funny and smart. Hopefully your crowd is as engaged as mine was – clapping, gasping and sighing (in a good way, thanks to Ryan Gosling). Happy birthday, Steve! Wow, Madonna is 53 years old today. Madge looks incredible for her age, doesn’t she? Or I suppose some will beg to differ, as some think she looks quite scary with her bulging biceps. Oh whatever, how many 53 year [...]

Even if you did not enjoy using art materials at school, taking pleasure from paintings can be achieved at any age. Studying art at school may not have been the most exciting of subjects especially if you took no interest in learning about the history of the different genres such as impressionism and surrealism. Although you may not have benefited from learning the subject in your formative years, it is true that people can discover how to use art materials at any age or period in their life.

Honey Bee Is One Sweet Song

Many people are quite surprised to know that some of the best concert pianists of the 20th century often played on used or rebuilt pianos. You may wonder why they would choose to play on used upright pianos when they have all the money to buy a brand-new piano. It is similar to people who purchase old model cars only to fix them up again. It is because they believe that older cars are of better quality than their more modern counterparts. The cars may not have the technological features that contemporary cars have, but they are often sturdier and stronger.

Um, we wouldn't call rub burn an injury, okay?!

Recall back, if you can, to about a year ago. Lindsay Lohan was in rehab (again), specifically at the Betty Ford Clinic. Around the time we was scheduled to be release, an incident occurred between herself and a staffer by the name of Dawn Holland. While Lindsay denied all of the woman's claims, Dawn insisted that LiLo attacked her by twisting and pulling her wrist for 8-10 seconds.

We'd thought the woman had let the whole thing go since her lawsuit fell through, but she is back again today, claiming she will be having surgery later this week to repair the damage done to her wrist by LiLo. She supposedly is suffering from De Quervain syndrome, which her doctor describes as "tendinosis of the sheath or tunnel that surrounds two tendons that control movement of the thumb." Symptoms include pain, tenderness, swelling and difficulty gripping.

Now, we did a little Google research ourselves and while a direct blow can result in this condition, it primarily develops if the thumb has been injured, not the wrist. Furthermore, it more commonly develops from overusing, like Carpal Tunnel.

So, basically we're calling this BS. The only syndrome she is suffering from is Chronic Fame Whoring Disorder. Give her 15 minutes of your attention then be on your way.

Yesterday was a nice and very quiet day for David and me. I spent most of my late afternoon/evening reading and David spent his running around taking care of errands. We did leave the house for a bit last night to get a couple drinks and just hang out and ended up at one of our fave spots, The Hudson. Unfortunately, we were hoping for a quiet Monday night out … but we ended up being smack dab in the middle of a raucous crowd watching the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final.

The only seating open in the bar was underneath the big screen TV … so all the screaming bros were pointed at us. Their cheering and jeering was a bit disconcerting but it really didn’t take away from our hang out session. We managed to sneak off and find privacy in the photobooth for a bit, which was a nice way to end our night out. Oh and congrats to The University of Connecticut for their win last night … even if the game was kinda terrible.

No plans for tonight. I’m certain David and I will get out of the house eventually for food or something but as it stands, we don’t have anything on the books. Ah, it’s nice to have nothing to do … let me tell you ;)
