The Hunger Games opens in theaters on Friday (AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!) but today we get to check out a newly released clip from the film that features protagonist character Katniss Everdeen saying her final goodbyes to companion/friend Gale Hawthorne right before she is taken from her home in District 12 to the capitol city of Panem to compete in the Hunger Games. It’s a powerfully emotional scene, one that fans of the book will remember vividly. Click below to check it out.

I was blessed with the opportunity to see The Hunger Games in full yesterday (in IMAX, no less) and I can tell you … this scene (and the one right before it when Katniss says goodbye to her mother and sister Primrose) is one of the more emotionally powerful scenes in the film. I will post my full review of The Hunger Games later today but can tell you right now … I was beyond impressed with the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘s amazing novel. Fans of the book will be very pleased with the way this film turned out, you can trust me on that. Enjoy the clip … and be on the look-out for my full review of The Hunger Games
